Marr
There is only one Marr household in the 1841 and 1851 census, and little
mention of them in the registers. The first Marr was of Gilling at his
marriage in Redmire in 1772, and it appears this family stayed in Redmire
for only two generations.

Elizabeth is the widow of Thomas Marr, born Elizabeth Alderson in
1773. Nothing is known of her parents. She married Thomas 12
March 1811 in Richmond. Thomas was baptized 23 April 1776 in
Redmire, the son of Thomas Marr and Barbara, nee Andeel.
Thomas and Elizabeth had one child, James, who was baptized in
Richmond, 13 December 1813. He died there 23 April 1819. Thomas died
before the census, on 10 October 1838 and was buried at Redmire 13
October. The family headstone reads "To the memory of Thomas Marr
who departed this life 10 October 1838 aged 62 years. (6 line verse.)
Also his son James Marr died at Richmond 23 April 1819 aged 6 years 5
months. Also Elizabeth wife of the above named Thomas Marr died 15
December 1848 aged 75 years".
