Francis Smith was baptized 2 September 1821, the son of John (a
woolcomber) and Ann of Castle Bolton. A sad tale details how Francis
is actually the above Jane Storey's grandson. Jane's daughter Ann
(Nanny) Storey, baptized 30 June 1796, first married Francis Smith, 29
November 1819 in Aysgarth. The marriage didn't last long - Francis
was buried less than a week later on 6 December 1819, aged 21. A year
later, Ann (now Smith) second married to John Smith of Aysgarth, 12
December 1820 in Castle Bolton.
Francis is still living with his grandmother in 1851. By 1861,
he can be seen in Redmire.
