THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me JOHN STRINGER CALVERT of Redmire in the parish of Wensley in the North Riding of Yorks made this fifth day of April 1911.

I hereby appoint John Stringer Calvert (Butter and egg merchant) of 34 Hargreave Terrace Darlington in the County of Durham, James Stringer Calvert Redmire, Mary Stringer Calvert Senr and Mary Stringer Calvert Junr both of Redmire to be trustees and EXECUTORS of this my will.

I herewith bequeath to the above named trustees Upon trust for my wife Mary Stringer Calvert during the remaining term of her natural life the whole of my real and personal estate after all just debts and funeral expenses have been paid by them.

I give to my eldest son John Stringer Calvert my Antique escritoire.

All my furniture china and household untensils I bequeath to my daughter Mary Stringer Calvert.

I herewith declare that at the decease of my wife Mary Stringer Calvert if my son John Stringer Calvert give one hundred pounds to my son James Stringer Calvert and one hundred pounds to my daughter Mary Stringer Calvert my residence Gordon Lodge with premises gardens and garth also Broad Garth all situated in Redmire be given to my son John Stringer Calvert. If he will not give one hundred pounds to James Stringer Calvert Redmire and one hundred pounds to Mary Stringer Calvert Redmire who are his brother and sister respectively then the residence Gordon Lodge with premises gardens and Garth also Broad Garth all situated in Redmire must be sold and the proceeds shared equally among John Stringer Calvert James Stringer Calvert and Mary Stringer Calvert my three children.

My other property not before mentioned in this will with stock etc is to be sold at some suitable time fixed by the discretion of my trustees and the proceeds with the residue of my estate and effects after all just debts and expenses have been paid are to be shared equally among my three children John Stringer Calvert James Stringer Calvert and Mary Stringer Calvert but not earlier as before stated than the decease of my wife Mary Stringer Calvert.

I hereby declare this to be my last will and I revoke all former wills and codicils.

On the 7th day of November 1912 Probate of this Will was granted to John Stringer Calvert James Stringer Calvert Mary Stringer Calvert and Mary Stringer Calvert the Executors.


BE IT KNOWN that John Stringer Calvert of Redmire Wensley in the County of York died on the 5th day of September 1912 at Redmire aforesaid.

AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament of the said deceased was proved and registered in the Principal Probate Registry of His Majesty's High Court of Justice, and that administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to John Stringer Calvert of 34 Hargreave Terrace Darlington in the County of Durham Butter and Egg Merchant, and James Stringer Calvert of Redmire aforesaid Sons of deceased, Mary Stringer Calvert Widow the Relict of deceased and Mary Stringer Calvert Spinster Daughter of deceased both of Redmire aforesaid the Executors named in the said Will.
