Thomas Cantrill was baptized 19 July 1812 in Grinton, the child of George Cantrill (his mother was probably Hannah Blenkiron). He married Grace Walker, (the daughter of William Walker and Margaret Horner, baptized 11 December 1808) in July 1845 (banns read at Redmire), and had two children:
  1. Thomas William: baptized (unknown)
  2. Margaret: baptized 21 January 1849, Redmire

In 1861, we see Thomas' family growing up, still the only Cantrill family in Redmire.

Her husband Thomas was buried Redmire 29 September 1879, although no headstone (if one existed) survives. The parish register notes that he was killed in a quarry at Bolton Hall Wood.

Ralph Cantrill was the son of Ralph and Jane, baptized 18 May 1822 in Grinton. He was widowed from his wife Elizabeth Harriet, nee Shields, who was baptized 1 February 1829 in Gunnerside, the daughter of William and Hannah Shields. Elizabeth died in 1869, in Winterings. Together they had ten children, including Godfrey and Esther seen above:

Grace is last seen on the 1891 census before reaching the unfortunate end of being burnt to death, and buried in Redmire 11 April 1898:
