In April 1861, Thomas married Jane Miller of Redmire, daughter of William Miller and Ann, nee Coates. The above note of Thomas' wife being Elizabeth is probably a transcription or enumerator error.

Thomas and Jane had four children baptized in Redmire:

  1. Thomas: baptized 26 September 1869
  2. Henry Stephen: baptized 25 February 1872
  3. George: baptized 22 September 1873
  4. James Ernest: baptized 11 May 1879

By 1881, Thomas and Jane had moved to Preston under Scar (their son James Ernest was born there). Jane died sometime between the 1891 and 1901 census.
