James Moody was baptized in Aysgarth, 24 May 1812, the son of James
Moody and Margaret, nee Richardson. James married Mary Drummond, 28
October 1833 in Aysgarth, both being of Burton at the time. Mary
was baptized 9 February 1812, the daughter of Daniel Drummond and
Alice, nee Metcalfe.
James and Mary's children were:
- Margaret: baptized 22 March 1835, Aysgarth
- Alice: buried 7 January 1837, Aysgarth (infant)
- George: baptized 22 April 1838, Aysgarth
- Alice: baptized 26 July 1840, Aysgarth, buried 24 October 1867, Aysgarth
- Eleanor: baptized 2 April 1843, Castle Bolton
- James: baptized 6 July 1845, Castle Bolton
- Daniel Drummond: born abt. 1848, East Witton; buried 4 November 1868, Aysgarth
- Henry: baptized 17 July 1853, Aysgarth
At the baptism of Henry, James and Mary were of Dove Scarr, Walden,
although they were not there in the 1851 census. Alice, aged 12, is
at Nell Busk, Burton in 1851 with aunt and uncle, Abel and Ellinor
Sadler. The remainder of the family are in East Witton without.
James Moody was buried in Aysgarth 12 August 1865, and his wife Mary 8
May 1861.
