This is the only time William appears on the census, as he was buried
in Redmire 3 August 1845 aged 83. His parentage is unknown. He is
the widower of Mary, nee Metcalfe, whom he married 3 December 1789.
The above Ann Binks is their daughter.

Francis' parentage is also unknown. Francis first married to Margaret Slinger, 27 November 1793. Francis
and Margaret had one child, John (1797-1799). Margaret was buried in
Redmire 24 April 1802.
Francis then married Ann Sanderson (the Ann seen above), 8 April 1805.
Ann being born abt. 1779 at Downholme, of parents unknown. They had
seven children:

John Fawcett was baptized 3 July 1771, the son of John Fawcett and
Mary, nee Tatam. John married Elizabeth Davidson 21 December 1807,
Elizabeth being the daughter of Christopher Davison and Ann, nee
Naylor, baptized 26 November 1786 in Redmire. They had eight
children together:

- Ann: baptized 17 June 1810
- Mary: baptized 19 January 1812 (seen above with husband John)

The above is Tatam Fawcett, son of John Fawcett and Mary, nee Tatam,
brother to the John we saw earlier. Tatam was born 12 February
1786, and baptized 26 February 1786. On 21 June 1809 he married
Jane Rain. Their child Thomas was baptized 2 April 1814.

Thomas was baptized 2 April 1814, son of Tatam Fawcett and Jane, nee
Rain. His wife is Hannah Bowe, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Bowe
of Middleham. Hannah was baptized 2 May 1823 at the Leyburn
Independent Chapel. Thomas and Hannah's were married at Middleham, by
virtue of a license dated 7 April 1849.
Their son, Christopher, was baptized 14 July 1850.

John (son of John Fawcett and Elizabeth, nee Davison) we saw in
1841. He has clearly spent some of the 1840s in Richmond, and
married Jane. Nothing is known of the parentage of Jane, nor
or Thomas' baptism. Christopher is John's younger brother. Elizabeth Fawcett is John's
mother, widow of John. Her husbands memorial reads:
Erected in memory of John Fawcett of Castle Bolton who departed this
life 2 September 1848 aged 77 years. Also Elizabeth Fawcett wife of
the above who departed this life 19 March 1865 aged 78 years. Also
Adam their son who died 14 February 1873 aged 65 years. Also Elizabeth
their daughter who died 5 June 1885 aged 70 years. Also Mary 2nd daughter
of the above John and Elizabeth Fawcett who died at Carperby 12
April 1896 aged 84 years.

Hannah will marry, 25 July 1873, to Henry Thompson, widower, and is
seen in 1881 in the Thompson chapter. Thomas's memorial reads:
In affectionate remembrance of Thomas Fawcett of Castle Bolton who
died in the full triumph of faith 6 July 1865 aaged 51 years. [2 lines text]
Also Hannah the beloved wife of the above who died 25 March 1886 aged 60
years. [2 lines verse].
On the other side of this stone, there is another inscription for
Hannah:

Mary's husband John Fawcett died `suddenly' according to the parish
register, and was buried in Redmire 21 October 1879, aged 72. Her
daughter Isabella married the above Robert Horn, 24 November 1878.
Young John Fawcett is an illegitimate son of Mary's daughter Ann, John
being baptized 13 July 1879.

This is the last census we see William and Sarah. William was buried
in Redmire, 8 May 1892 aged 74. Sarah must have been buried
elsewhere.

Ann's mother Mary died in Carperby, 12 April 1896, and was buried
in Redmire 16 April 1896.
Young John died in world war I, killed in action in France, 16 June
1917. He was a private in the West Yorkshire Regiment, 18th Bn.,
service number 40330. He is buried in the Aubigny Communal Cemetery
Extension, Aubigny-en-Artois, Pas de Calais, at grave III H 36. His
casualty record lists him as cousin of Annie Wade, of Japonica House,
Halton East, Skipton.
The family headstone in Redmire reads:
In memory of John and Mary Fawcett of Castle Bolton and of Jane, Ann,
Frank, Elizabeth, Tatham, Mary Isabel children of the above. Also of John
Fawcett grandson killed in action in France 16 June 1917.
