Thomas Binks was born about 1789 in Marrick, to parents unknown. On
22 September 1817, he married Ann Fawcett, daughter of William Fawcett
(the above William) and Mary Metcalfe, Ann having been baptized 29
November 1795 in Castle Bolton. Their children are:
- William: baptized 17 October 1819
- John: baptized 3 August 1823
- Mary Ann: baptized 13 April 1828
- Thomas: baptized 1 August 1830
- Francis Musgrave: baptized 30 December 1832
- George Musgrave: baptized 26 June 1836
- Sarah: baptized 29 July 1838
Thomas's family is growing up by 1851, with all the boys working
in the lead mines:

Thomas Binks died in 1853, buried in Redmire 27 February. His widow
Ann is left at home with two children:
Name | Relationship | Age | Occupation | Birthplace |
BINKS Ann | Head, Widow | 56 | | Castle Bolton |
BINKS Mary | Daughter, Unmarried | 29 | | Castle Bolton |
BINKS George | Son, Unmarried | 24 | Lead Ore Dresser | Castle Bolton |
|
Only one Binks remains in the village by 1871:
Name | Relationship | Age | Occupation | Birthplace |
BINKS Sarah | Daughter, Unmarried | 30 | | Castle Bolton |
|
Sarah was in Redmire, in service, in 1861. By 1881, Sarah is found in
Newton-le-Willows. There are no Binks in Castle Bolton census returns
after this.
Presumably the above Sarah is the Sarah Binks of Castle Bolton who
appeared at the bastardy sessions in September 1864, naming Michael
Calvert of Redmire, miner, as father of her child.
