The above Mary, nee Russell, is the widow of William Bell. She was
baptized 31 December 1775 in Castle Bolton, daughter of George Russell
and Emma, nee Nelson.
William and Mary married 29 November 1797. William was born about
1770 (parents unknown--there are no Bells at the time in Bolton-cum-Redmire),
and was buried in Redmire 14 January 1836, aged 66. Their children
are:

William's wife Elizabeth died 23 June 1865 and was buried the same
day. Their new twin daughters are Emmaline and Lavinia, baptized 30

Matthew was baptized in Aysgarth 1 July 1832, son of Matthew Bell
and Margaret, nee Brown. Of Redmire at the time, he married Ann
Hall, about March 1870 (banns read locally, although where the
marriage took place is unknown). Ann's parentage is unknown. This is the only time Matthew and Ann appear in the village.
They eventually lived at Park Lodge, Wensley, and are buried
in Redmire churchyard. According to their memorial, Ann died
15 August 1896 and Matthew 2 December 1918. Their memorial
also remembers a son, Matthew, who died aged 3 months.

households for 1871:
